DOPEST Song of the Week: "Nobody Likes You" by Bronwyn Silk
Bronwyn Silk is definitely on the radar with her poignant, stand-out single, “Nobody Likes You”, which is our new selection for DOPEST Song of the Week.
The young pop, singer/songwriter delivers a heart-wrenching and compelling piece of staccato electric guitar, trap 808s and punchy kicks. She gives a performance to match the feeling of inadequacy and self-inflicted emotional pain expressed in her lyrics. Bronwyn Silk explains that “Nobody Likes You” was the first song she wrote after weeks of struggling to finish a song. “This song was a turning point for me because I was failing to find inspiration and perspective looking outward. I started isolating myself and placing frustration on the people close to me.” She continues, “Walking along the side walk, I felt the very-familiar feeling of loneliness I knew was the result of a self-fulfilling prophecy that kept repeating. I began taunting myself singing, “you are an a**hole, nobody likes you”, and all of a sudden the whole song poured out of me.”
The Wisconsin-born artist has been enthusiastic about singing and song writing since a young age. In the summer of 2018, Bronwyn moved herself and her belongings to Los Angeles, living place to place before settling into a more secure situation. Bronwyn broke her silence with her first debut single, “Raincoat” in June after releasing, “Hate Your Rules”, a collaboration with CRWN that reached over a million streams.
