Jamaican Sensation Koffee Releases Her Debut EP "Rapture"
19-year-old Jamaican native Mikayla "Koffee" Simpson, is sharing her highly-anticipated debut EP. Rapture includes previously released singles "Toast" and "Throne," both of which have already amassed millions of streams, and provides a blueprint for how Koffee is experimenting within the genre exploring a different style with stripped back electronic production from Lasanna Harris/PK Oneday. Its minimalist rhythmic hits and bassline taking the lead, with Koffee's youthful, bold and energetic delivery fully in play.
With support from reggae heavyweights like Chronixx, Cocoa Tea, Proteje and Major Lazer's Walshy Fire, who produced "Toast," her contemporary take on the classic genre is not only making space for a new type of dancehall but for the rest of the women shaking up the scene as well. Rapture is a statement - Koffee is one of reggae's brightest young talents and has the ability to bring new international relevance to Jamaican music.
