Congratulations on your new video "Life"; how did you and the director, Robert Dedier, come up with the treatment for the visual?
We had come up with multiple ideas to create this universe. Even had a demo version shot on a RED camera figuring out different concepts we can talk incorporate. Dedier did an excellent job at putting together the crew, props and storyboard which helped us keep everything at the right track. He did a remarkable job directing.
How would you say that "Life" is representative of your upcoming album dropping later this year?
“Life” is the base for album. It tells you how our struggles make us stronger. That strength is what will fuel the rest of the album. Since I haven’t released music on this level for a while, the statement “back on the block” tells us that this just the beginning. That’s life.
What are some things/places that inspire your creativity when developing new music?
Life is what inspires me the most. My daily struggles, the stories people tell me even the influence of TV shows. I’m a big anime fan. The limitless possibilities of those realities helps me tap into a world. A world where I feel unstoppable!
Tell us what you enjoy most about being an artist in 2019, and at the same time, what frustrates you the most?
What frustrates me the most is the lack brilliant writing and lyricism. The type Lil Wayne and Lupe Fiasco used to incorporate in their music. What I enjoy most is the freedom of it all. Being able to sound different, weird and make that a hit. Such as Gunna or Trippie Red.
When you are not working on new music, how do you spend your leisure time? Also, do you travel a lot? Any favorite places you've spent time at?
I like to spend time with my loved ones and close friends. As lame as that sounds, they fuel my energy to work harder. Their stories help me find different parts of myself I would never look at. Truly inspiring.
I haven’t traveled since last year. My focus this year is at an all time high. One of my most favorite places to spend time in is Montreal. I used to live there so it’s refreshing getting that away from home home feeling. If I make any sense.
