Interview: MIHustle Ent's ABK S.A and SLRedd Discuss Their Single "From a Distance", Off the "Chicken Chase Vol. 1" Mixtape

Major thanks to ABK S.A and SLRedd from Detroit based MIHustle Entertainment who connected with DCWS for an exclusive interview to talk about their new single “From a Distance”, which is a featured track on their mixtape, “Chicken Chase Vol. 1”. We also learned more about what inspired the development of the mixtape, how MIHustle Entertainment got its start, what we can expect from ABK S.A and SLRedd musically this year, and much more.

After reading our Q&A with ABK S.A and SLRedd, be sure to connect with them on Facebook and YouTube, check out more of MIHustle Entertainment’s music on Soundcloud, and listen to the “Chicken Chase Vol. 1” mixtape.

Congratulations on the release of the "From a Distance" track as well as the "Chicken Chase Vol. 1" mixtape overall. What originally inspired MIHustle Entertainment to develop the mixtape and why did you select "From a Distance" as the single? What does the mixtape title mean?

Honestly, we felt it was over due. We had released all kinds of music on Soundcloud, Apple Music, YouTube, etc. But we didn’t have a finished project. It was important to establish ourselves as serious artists and we knew a finished project was a top ingredient.

We chose the title “Chicken Chase Vol. 1” because it lets the world know what we are about. We are building a music label from the ground up and it requires hustling from different angles. The title reflects our journey to becoming a thriving brand.

“From A Distance” was the track that stood out the most. It is a song many have at some point relate to and it shows how versatile we can be as writers.

Tell us a little bit about MIHustle Entertainment; how did the company get started and why are you two such great collaborators?

MIHUSTLE ENTERTAINMENT was started in 2015 shortly after ABK and I began working together. We saw each other’s dedication and we decided we should combine our forces. We had both been involved with other groups. In my case, I didn’t feel like I was able to do music freely with the group I was with and that made me branch off. ABK S.A is a phenomenal songwriter, performer and artist. No concept is too radical or outrageous to him and he can make a great song out of what most could not.

As for myself, I believe I bring a difference to the “female rapper” image. I’m myself in my music and it’s not what everybody is use to hearing from a female. As we grow, we are looking to recruit artists with their own distinct images as well.

What are some of the goals musically for MIHustle Entertainment for 2020?

I’ll be announcing the release of my solo project “Misses Mayhem” early 2020. Also, we will be releasing several short films, promos and music videos on YouTube. So we highly advise listeners to subscribe to MIHUSTLEENT’s channel. ABK S.A will also be releasing several tracks.

Tell us about the producer(s) that provided the dope beats that we hear on the mixtape.

Our producer is one of Detroit’s finest and I honestly can’t say enough about him. He understands our sound and we trust him to do his thing whenever we record with him. I’ve worked with several, more established producers and I can’t say the same for the others.

Why should every person reading this interview go stream the "Chicken Chase Vol 1" mixtape?

There’s a lot of relatable music to be found on the mixtape. I think listeners will appreciate the overall sound because it’s really not like anything out right now. There are songs about making money, making love, making moves.....the good stuff lol. This mixtape is just a taste of what we can do and what we have planned. Anyone who wants a peek into what’s to come from #MIHUSTLEENT should definitely stream “Chicken Chase Vol. 1” immediately.
