Congratulations on the release of your new EP "Spring". Tell us about your inspiration(s) to record the EP's four songs.
These songs are classic Country/Western songs from when I was young, and they've always been particularly sentimental to me. I guess they remind me of being a kid, and they sort of take me back to a time when the world was simple and full of possibilities. They're just really special songs, and I wanted to share them with a new generation of listeners.
You titled the EP, "Spring"; what does it mean specifically?
I named the EP after the city of Spring, Texas where I spent most of my childhood.
Tell us about "Love, Me", which is the first song featured on the “Spring” EP.
"Love, Me" was written by Country music legends Skip Ewing and Max T. Barnes, originally performed by Collin Raye. I've always found the song really touching, and it has stuck with me almost my entire life. Being able to record this song in my own styling with the help of the amazing David Peters of Oak House Recording was such an incredible experience.
To take this piece of music that I have such respect for and perform it for others to hear means so much to me. I just wanted to play some part in the life of this beautiful song.
Can we expect a visual for "Love, Me" to be released soon? If not, what's next for you musically?
I don't have plans at the moment to do a music video for any of the songs on this EP, but I do plan to schedule more shows in the coming months. I haven't quite worked out a tour yet, but I will keep everyone posted on social media as things come together.
I am also in the process of writing a ~15 song LP that I can hopefully share with everyone sometime in the next couple of years. The writing on the upcoming record is a lot more complicated; it's going to be a much bigger arrangement. I'm really looking forward to it.
Finish this sentence - When someone listens to the "Spring" EP for the first time, they ..."
... will probably want to give their significant other a great big hug. It's a collection of love songs, after all.
