Interview: Houston Based RnB Singer-Songwriter Eydn

We connected with Houston based RnB singer-songwriter and producer Eydn for an exclusive interview to discuss her new single “Glitter”, which will appear on her upcoming EP "Evening Bouquet”. We also got a chance to pick Eydn’s brain about her transition from Gospel to secular artist, find out which legendary singer she would select to collaborate with, and much more.

After reading our Q&A with Eydn, be sure to connect with her on social media and stream “Glitter” on Spotify.

You've mentioned several artists (Whitney Houston, Sade, Luther Vandross, Anita Baker) whose music you would hear on the radio when traveling with your mother. If you had to pick one of these four legendary singers to do a collaboration with, who would you select?

SADE ALL DAY. I LLOOOVVEEE HER style , her writing, her smoothness...uugghhh

Was it a difficult decision to transition from a gospel singer to a secular RnB artist?

You know It’s a lot easier than people think. I was never a full on Gospel artist anyhow in my sound. My sound was always urban. The reasoning behind why I’m out here doing music is still the same; it’s just the tags and boxes are different.

Congratulations on the release of your new single "Glitter"; the track is great. What inspired you to write it and who produced the very DOPE instrumental?

Thanks man, so this song wrote itself really. BTW I did the production myself; I’m a wee babe in this world of things but after I constructed the beat, the song started living on its on. I don't know if I was dealing with something or what but the words "Ain’t no glitter in my pocket , no sunshine in my bag" just fell out of my mouth during the first freestyle on the track.

What can you tell us about your upcoming EP "Evening Bouquet”, which is scheduled to drop in July? That’s a great question. This EP is about getting to know me, who I am and what I stand for. By industry standards I’m a mature artist so I have a lot to say when it comes to believing in yourself and following your dream when you are surrounded by people saying let it go.

Finish this sentence - "When someone listens to "Glitter", I want them to…

Unapologetically embrace who they are, good parts and bad parts because that’s how you become the best version of yourself.
