New 6 track EP “Odyssey” has been released by Glasgow-based Psychiatrist and Singer-Songwriter, Dr. Unoma Okudo MBChB, Medicine.
BBC Radio Scotland’s Janice Forsyth Show named Dr. Okudo’s song 'Satisfied' “Single of the Week” on Monday, January 18th, 2016, asserting, “A Glasgow based singer with a sensational voice. Sounds like a classic.”
Unoma Okudo enjoyed a marvelous start to last year. Her first gig of 2015 was playing support to Macy Gray. She was “Special Guest” for a 30 minute set before the Grammy and double Brit Awards winner took to the stage at the Academy Music Group’s O2 ABC Glasgow on Sunday, February 8th, 2015. Unoma was honoured to perform as Backing Vocalist for Dougie MacLean at The Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony in on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014. She’s also supported triple Grammy Award winner, Lalah Hathaway, (her late father Donny is a Grammy winner), and Alexander O’Neal, also at the O2 ABC music venue.
“I’m really excited to share my first body of work, a 6 track EP with songs that reflect what I’m about as an artist. I hope you will be able to connect with my experiences, and come with me on this journey of self-discovery and fulfillment,” affirmed the Psychiatrist who works at an NHS owned hospital in the area. “I’ve written the songs at different points in my life - capturing the moments where I felt really strong and others where I felt very vulnerable. I’m also excited to share one of the songs that came from one of my vulnerable moments with God.”
In her medical work, the graduate of The University of Glasgow won a top award at the inaugural NHS Lanarkshire Trainee Audit Prize 2013 in Mental Health.
